The recently released Hunger Games movie has become wildly popular since it's release, grossing 337.1 million in the U.S. alone. But is all the fuss really worth it? After reading the books, I'm unsure whether the movie portrayed the book's story accurately. My sister is raving about how fantastic it was but I think it really played to the reader's favorite parts of the book. The whole beginning half of the movie portrayed life in the capitol. Moviegoer, George Cardozo said "They dressed like Lady Gaga" and "There wasn't enough fighting for my tastes". I partially agree but this opens up the debate of the difficulty of portraying plots from books in 90 minutes, the average length of a feature film. However, despite this, the movie has been wildly successful and we can surely expect a sequel to it. It will be interesting to see how well they integrate the next books plot into a movie that still is pleasing to the average moviegoer. We can probably expect more fighting in the sequel which may play more to people like George Cardozo's tastes. So ask yourself this--What purpose does a movie really serve? Is it better for a movie to be gnarly and disregard the plot to please George or for it to follow that plot as closely as possible? JACK OUT.
...misquote, I said that nothing happened for the first 2/3s of the movie, that includes plot development. I don't mind movies without fighting, as long as what replaces it is good. Hopefully the next movie will have more plot than "GURL LIEK BOWS! DIS GUY DRINK! BOY LIEK GURL! LOOK SHE SHOOT PIG! NOW DEY FITE! OW SHE GET HURT! I SAD PEEPL DIED! DEY WON! COME PAY US MONEES FOR UNOTHER MOVIES!".
